The Senior Session That Touched My Heart

Why does childhood go by in the blink of an eye? Like seriously! I shoot seniors a LOT and I cannot imagine my little girl (3 years old) about to graduate and moving on with her life. You know, the ol’ “I’ll be ok, mom. I’m just moving out, no big deal.” All while they are practically screaming out of excitement for freedom of your clutches. No but seriously, every time I think about it I get knots in my stomach.

Yet, when I look at the photos I take of these kids (let’s be honest, they are always children in our eyes) I see so much more. I capture a moment in time where they are proud of their achievements and scared to move on at the same time. Fear of the unknown that awaits them after graduation day. The moment I take a portrait of any senior and their parents I nearly cry. The love they have for their children truly shows.

This is why I do what I do. Every session has a story to tell and this one is about a smart and dedicated high school student who is about to hit one of the first biggest milestones. A story of a woman who is afraid to let go but is honored to be a mother of a young lady.
