Do’s and Don’ts of Picking Family Photoshoot Outfits

Hey guys! Let’s dive in on the Do’s and Don’ts of picking out family photoshop outfits! We know it can be extremely exhausting picking the perfect outfit for everyone in the fam. BUT… we can help make things SO much easier!

First: choose your color scheme! A simple google search for “outfit color scheme” can help tremendously! Once you decide that, read on!

DO mix and match!

DO add in textures. Sweaters, cardigans and fuzzy vests are always good!

DO NOT add clothing with brand labels, cartoon characters or words on the outfits. These can be distracting and please for the love of photography don’t say “you can edit that out.” We love you but can’t always “edit that out.” Our time is just as valuable as yours!

DO toss in a bold color if you want! Reds, rust, mustard yellow etc can bring a whole family shoot together in our opinion!

DO NOT put everyone in a bold color. This can sometimes come off as “too much”. A little goes a long way! One or two people in a bold color is enough.

DO wear neutrals within the family outfits! If you have trouble finding an outfit stick with a plain neutral solid shirt and dark blue jeans! This always ties things together!

DO add in dresses for the girls if you can! Nothing ties a family portrait in more than a long float boho gown! You can find them on Amazon or even Etsy!

DO NOT be afraid to add a print like floral! Floral is definitely in right now and we don’t see it going anywhere for a long time!

DO NOT wear a ball cap gentlemen!!! Please leave the OU hat at home. If all else fails you can wear a cowboy hat. ladies you can definitely rock a boho fedora if you must!

DO ask your photographer for help on outfit inspo!
